S/S Sekstant
Just 150 metres away from the wreck of the S/S Blaafjeld in the Urdshalsvågen cove, is the wreck of the steamer called the Sekstant.
This vessel came under the same attack as the Blaafjeld on 4 May 1940, but the Sekstant was hit by a bomb which exploded hard against starboard, and she sank within a few hours as a result of the damage sustained. Originally en route from Foldafoss to the Thames, the Sextant ended her days in the depths of Urdshalsvågen.
The Sextant is perhaps the best-preserved wreck in Norway. She retains her woodwork, wooden panelling and openable doors owing to the favourable water conditions at this depth. The wreck rests at a depth of 48-65 metres. The Sextant is a slightly more demanding wreck dive than the Blaafjeld and is a typical trimix dive.
