S/S Nerva

The Nerva was stranded just off Rørvik on 7 February 1943 en route from Fineidet to Germany, with a cargo of iron ore.

Originally built in Glasgow and named ‘Forestgate’, the steamer ended up in Norway under the name ‘Nerva’ in 1935. During the German invasion, Nerva was captured by the Germans and was in enemy service until she went down in 1943.

This wreck is 90 metres long and rests in good condition on her keel, like a real picture-book wreck. The stern deck is found at a depth of 27 metres. The mighty propeller on the bottom can be swum around at a depth of 35 metres. The wreck slopes down to its bow which rests at 55 metres, with the deck here at 45 metres.

The S/S Nerva lies in the fairway and is easily accessible. Due to the water quality and bottom conditions, this is a quite different experience to the Blaafjeld and Sextant. This is some of the finest wreck diving Norway has to offer.
